The Statistical Review of Korean 603 Cleft Lips

Abstract

|
A total of 603 cases of cleft lips restored surgically by us was analyzed upon the basic study for the sex difference, classification of the clefts, and geographical incidence.
In the sex difference male was almost twice as much as female. The ratio of cleft lip to combined lip and palate to palate only was 1 : 1. 6 : 0.5, and the ratio of left side cleft to right side to bilateral was 3.7 : 2.3 : 1.
It is interesting to mention that about 16% of all cleft lips were in the secondary deformities such as marked scarring, whistling defect and naso-labial fistula sequential to the original surgical procedures.
